Important Things You Must Know When Using A Laser Temperature Gun

For automotive and industrial applications, the laser temperature gun can be used to obtain a quick reading on the temperature of components like MBS bearing and an NTN ball bearing. This is also known as infrared thermometer developed mainly to measure the temperatures of objects on which the conventional thermometers can’t be used.

How Does It Work?

Know that all objects emit heat energy or infrared. A difference in the temperature between an object and another one or perhaps its surrounding can be measured. If the object and its surrounding have similar temperature, zero is the net radiation energy exchange value.

The infrared thermometer makes use of light that can be absorbed, focused, or reflected by an object. Also, it has a lens that will focus the light from an object to a thermopile, which is a type of detector.
Using a laser temperature gun will offer several advantages. First, it will give out fast and accurate readings. Second, it allows a user to measure the object’s temperature safely without touching or getting close to it.

On the contrary, it also has disadvantages. First, this thermometer can’t be used to measure the temperature of objects which are encased in glass or those submerged in liquids. Second, it may require adjustments when the object being measured has a reflective surface.

When investing in an infrared thermometer, know that there are 3 important considerations – distance to spot ratio, accuracy, and temperature range.
